Getting geese for first time in spring

Thanks! It was suggested to get 3 geese. Should I get two pairs? Or three of same breed? I definitely want a pair of pilgrim but also looking at Toulouse

Pilgrim and Toulouse are great breeds. I'd get a pair of each because geese like to pair off only problem would be your gander may prefer the opposite breed of goose so you may have to keep them in separate area to get them bonded especially during breeding season.

Get a trio. Two females and a male.
I don't know how geese are but 2 pairs of chickens would create a rooster fighting ring!

I agree. Geese will pair off, so if you like both breeds, a pair of each is fine.

A trio would be fine too unless she wants to let them hatch goslings then she would have mixed breeds but even that is okay if she doesn't care. Sometimes gander will not bond with 2 geese though and that makes one an outsider. So a pair of each would be best. One benefit of trios is in case one dies then the goose left would still have a friend.

We had a dozen and then 19 day old that I raised. All were White Chinese. We used a chick starter from the local feed store. After about a month we set out a bowel of cracked corn or scratch and they naturally switched over. That's all we feed now.
The first group we ordered in 2014 were made up of two different species. I would suggest only one kind if you want to raise goslings.
