Getting Goat kids

Pics
Another Question.
What are signs of bloat in goats?
I don't have a problem but want to be prepared for it if it happens?
How is it treated ? Is a vet needed or is it easy to fix? :idunno
All my Pal says is don't feed them anything other than hay and the kids goat feed..:hmm
That's not fun. I like to give them a treat everyday..

They will have a big stomach, and will scream and be uncomfortable. Keeping baking soda available free choice can help prevent digestive upsets. Mine eat some daily. I haven't had problems since I started using it.

Why type of treats are you giving?
Well...
Slice of bread each...Apple sliced thin each. Celery stalk between the two...

Apple and celery are fine. The bread I would limit with your wether as they are a grain product. When one of my older boys wore his teeth down to nubs I tried adding in some bread to help fatten him up, but unfortunately he developed stones about a month or two after. I'm so scared of stones in wether goats having seen it a time or two, so I do what I can to avoid it.

Mine love branches to chew on, especially willow, so that's a treat option too.

Yes, I read that but get conflicting information about goats.
Definitely I'm following what I'm learning here from anyone who posts..

Just making you aware there are some diseases in goats that many can carry. The bad ones are johnes, and CAE. They both will cause chronic wasting in young adults. There is testing for both but the results can be unreliable. I brought one of them in once and it took years to be rid of it. Hopefully not too much information for you

Apparently it can differ based on what's in your hay, and water. More minerals one way will cause stones to form more easily. Goats are designed to digest roughage, so grains are not a natural part of their diet.

Definitely learn all you can and figure out what's best for you. I only share what I found works best for me. :thumbsup
Well Susan has had goats for as long as you Lisa. These are to replenish her herd of old ones. She only buys strictly from reputable breeders she knows. Babies are healthy.
I'm not sure if we will trade. :idunno
She definitely helps me if I can get ahold of her..:hmm
I hate bugging people so use my thread instead..
