Getting Goat kids

Oh boy, my goats love pine trees. I will be curious to see if yours try to eat them or not. Goats like to strip bark off branches. Yours are looking good Shannon. That's a nice area for them.

You want the trees eaten? Yours are probably more gentle. The mini goats in general are more gentle and get full easier. I'm feeding big old dairy goat boys, and a couple of elderly pygmy, so they like eating everything. It is a nice area for them, plus you can see them from your house. I like watching mine out the window when I'm doing stuff in the kitchen.

Fancy jumped the gate yesterday too because I walked away to put the big dogs in. She panics and cries for me. She followed me though back into the pen.

Just a tip, from personal experience. Goats, especially ones with horns, will tear that field fencing apart badly. They push their heads through and wiggle until they have man-holes in the fencing. Even goats without horns will push holes into the fence, but the horns make things WAY worse. If you would like, I can get pictures of what goats with horns do to fencing. Some places on my fence I have 3 layers of fence... they tear apart one layer and I add another one, and so on. I've found it worthwhile and way less work and headache to just use feedlot panels.

With that said, I have seen good wire goat fences that were framed in with wood to keep the wire tight and sturdy.

I'm picking up heavy gauge wire today in 2X4 inch ..Will be added to the existing wire..
Definitely a learning process with these sweet little buggers..

I'm home all day an always wanted Goats. You only live once. I'm healthy still and have the time to enjoy them. I'm so happy I got the two kids. They absolutely love me..

I'm definitely glad you got some. They are one creature I would have troubles living without. After I lost my favorite boy last fall I swore off anymore goats, but after grieving my boy, I'm ready to add a few more next spring. You have inspired me and reminded me how much I enjoy my goats.
