Getting Goat kids

Yeah, but, I’ve had my goats get stuck in our fence a few times...we had to change the fence...we put up wood on each side of the posts so they can’t get stuck. But, I was walking the baby today, and the mama was upset...she was getting her head kinda stuck. When they grow, especially a buck, they can be a hazard...I’m just saying because of what I’ve seen, and felt in my eye.

Goats with horns can also injure each other. There are good things and bad things about horns. If you mix horned and non-horned you can end up with some bullied goats so it's best to pick one or the other.

Goats get sick and most eventually need to be put down. So make sure you have access to a good vet or figure out what you will do if you need this option.

Just that hornless are better goats? I don't understand?
They definitely can get caught in fence but as far as injuries go I think it's minimal when together. I'm just wondering because goats do have horns.
Honestly I'm asking! I see lots with and without horns living together happily.

There are good and bad things about both horns and no horns. I don't necessarily favor one over the other. I preferred horns in my pygmy and Nigerian for many years. I only had problems when I had some polled ones, as well as horned. One particular boss doe liked to hook her horns under others belly and lift up. Those without horns always lose out to those with horns.

Goats can be brutal to each other. No horns means less risk of injuries. I like horns because they make nice handles if you need to restrain a goat.

In larger dairy breeds horns are more dangerous in my experiences. I had one break the jaw of another goat by butting. It was why we than decided to remove all horns.

Okay..That I understand. In a small herd set up and pets then the chances are minimal to the breeding injuries caused from hormones and that type of aggressive behaviour. Pets generally don't have that drive to inflict injuries. Just playing.

All adult goats will establish a pecking order and they will spend time bashing each other around trying to remind each other of their place. Some are worse about it than others. I've had goats get along perfectly, and others are just are ornery, and enjoy butting the others. The more you have, the more to may see it.

Most definitely. Goats are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get. I've enjoyed their antics for decades. They keep you busy, and guessing.
