Getting nervous...

I think we all get the number we can accommodate and then we stop. if you really only had room for 4 then you would not get more but it is because they are easy to look after that we keep adding.
We started with 4 and have been up to about 20 when we had meat birds briefly. Our 9 chickens and 1 duck are comfortable and we will probably get 4 more in the spring but then we will be full. That means we will stop, I think!

BWAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! This is a disease for which there is no cure... the only thing you can do is feed the addiction

Don't let these crazy peopel scare you. I planned on three chickens, nd I swear I've never had more than - oh, say, twenty-five full rown chickens at once, because you can't count chicks or old biddies as chickens, now can you. So don't worry.

and btw really - if you only want six, thats okay too. Lots of members are perfectly happy with their beautiful small flock - including , I believe Nifty Chicken our admin of admins. Those crazy people with too many chcickens are definitely in the minority and it could never, I mean certainly, absolutely, definitely never, ever happen to you.

started with keeping only 3..........

moved to a house where legally we could now have chickens : ).......

now afraid to actually count how many there are : 0

all in 4 years !!!!!

Good luck

Opa wrote on another thread that breathing poultry dander causes a chronic condition whereby the afflicted poultry owner can no longer do chicken-related math. 1 pullet + 1 pullet = 44

I started out with 3 chicks. Then I found a banty cochin on craigslist (DBF never did let on that my "find" meant I was looking...). I was going to wait until spring 2010 to get 3 more chicks, but now I'm going to order them in Feb of 2009.

I'm trying to figure out if DBF will notice if "the hatchery sends an extra".

Hey, is it MY fault that I can't decide between an EE, SLW, Polish, and BO?

Yes, I too am a CHICKEN ADDICT!! I WAS going to stop hatching in August, REALLY! But then here she came. All feathers and fluff. Preening and calling. Calling? Calling WHAT? Behind her came 15 little babies that she hatched in the woods and brought home:rolleyes:! Is there a word that means more than beautiful? That's what fifteen healthy baby chicks following their mother hen looks like;).
