Hello everyone, I'm brand new to chicken raising and will be getting my Golden Comets at the end of April assuming that I'll be allowed to leave my house by then. I've watched a ton of videos on YouTube and have my brooder equipment all ready. I'm excited to have access to this forum because I really need the info to get feedback about what works and what doesn't. So I'm going to just read the threads and learn.

What would you like to know? basic information, tips and tricks, and better yet do you have any questions?

I have a feed store nearby with veteran chicken caretakers who have been very helpful with info and advice as to what equipment I’ll need for the first 12 - 16 weeks. I’m slowly getting a coop built. So right now I’m happy watching YouTube videos and will be reading various threads here. Thanks for reaching out to the new guy.

Hi and welcome! I too am new to chickens - expecting my chicks next Monday and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I've got my brooder all set up and really just awaiting their arrival (6 days, 18 hours ...). This forum is fun AND informative. You will get LOTS and LOTS of opinions here. Read as many past post/topics as you care to but also do additional research on other sites (and especially ask other people you know and trust!) and based on that, make your best educated plan (sometimes it really is a guess) as to what will work - for YOU. Different situations/locals call for different tactics. My grandmother was HUGE into breeding, raising, selling eggs, and broilers from a tiny coop (they were free range) on a farm in SW MN, and I know for sure that she'd be rolling in her grave right now if she knew I was a on a chicken forum - :D. Growing up on the farm in the summers, I NEVER remember her caring about her flocks as much as people do now. But it's awesome seeing the passion and I'm excited to be a part of it (I also know my grandmother is smiling down on me and my project). All the best to you!

Welcome to the amazing and exciting world of BYC! Let me warn you that it's fun and very addicting...BEWARE OF CHICKEN MATH!!!!!!!
Not sure what chicken math is... but it could be interesting if the chickens are doing the math.

Post some pics of your brooder and we can spot any problems and offer suggestions.

It's when you let Romance trump Reality and get more birds than you have room to healthily house.

I’ll get a couple pictures soon. I’ve been fighting a chest cold and am resting.
