Opener is November 6th, for rifle, its already open for bow. DH and BIL got my ground blind into place 2 weekends ago. Thought I would share some pics of the fall colors and the prep we've been doing.

And of course, DS2 is very serious about all of this hunting prep stuff....

Chili is a staple food during deer hunting season!

Sparkles, my boys love getting ready for hunting season too. They even love the hunting. Although I'm pretty sure it's because grandpas and Dad keep their pockets well stocked with chocolate bars.

Me, I just like to go because I can sleep in the deer stand and no one will bug me.

Friday is the opener for archery. We've already had an early season firearms, and early youth firearms... I can't wait to try this out on the new property

Buff, speaking of chili, DS1 looks forward each year to hunting opener because he gets to go to the bar with us for free chili... I dont know if he likes the food or the hunters' stories the most. The joys of a small town, kids in the bar till ten.

Bow season is going now here, Black powder starts 10/2 and gun season 10/16. The other day I loaded Sharon some .243 with 100 gr Sierra game king bullets over 33 grains of Varget powder, makes a great deer round and the recoil doesn't bother her a bit. I'll be using a 7mm-08.

Bow season opens here Friday. Still a bit warmer than I like, but I'm itching for deer steaks on the grill, so I'll be in the stand sometime in the near future

Can't wait!
