I am getting ready to go on lockdown on my 2 batch of eggs. I bought an incubator that has an automatic turner and read somewhere that it is best to put the eggs in an egg carton(hatch the way they were in the incubator). Should I just put them in the carton or should I put holes in the carton???

I would really like a few more fuzzies to go with the 2, I got last weekend.

I cut the lid off the carton (obviously) and then I cut little holes out of the bottoms of each egg cup in the carton. I'm not sure how necessary it is, but I do it.

is your hatch rate higher hatching in egg cartons? i havent tried that method before. just wondering if hatch rate could be higher. i need all the help i can get.

thank so much for the reply, day 18 out of the turner and in to the cartons. my last few hatches have been around 60% want to get closer to 90% or above

I'm going back to hatching in cartons. I didn't for these last 2 hatches and they were horrible. Absolutely nothing was different as far as my temp/humditiy, but I didn't hatch in the carton. So we'll try again and see if it's better.

Good luck to you!!
