Getting rid of male chicks?

I know I'll get beat up for this post as well, but my only point was to not snuff out a life without purpose. I did not attack anyone but I sure did get attacked for my point of view. If you felt like my post was an attack then it was your interpretation because I just reread it and I never told anyone they were bad or mean or name called. I pointed out what I do and only offered that for a suggestion as well as my opinion on respecting life. I realize not everyone feels the way that I do and I am sorry that I was not able to relay my feelings without everyone jumping on my back. I do have a lot of passion for my animals. I DO only go to local hatcheries when I am not hatching my own that do not kill the male chicks in grinders or suffocate them the day that they are hatched because they are males (did not think the face slap was necessary, again I was only offering another option). I also do not support big business that confines their chickens to small, cruel cages, pumps them full of hormones, and then kills them for our food. Like I said I do eat me but I believe there are more humane was of raising, and when necessary taking the life to provide life. That was all I was saying and I think it is a shame that I was not able to express that without being attacked.

I did not rudely reply to that and don't act like I did, I asked for your point of view.

If you have a raptor rehab center near you they will likely take extra chicks and older birds. They are NOT fed live to the patients, they are euthanized beforehand.

I like your passion and I think everyone can tell you care a lot about your birds. Things were misunderstood and people got excited. I am sorry anyone felt they were being attacked. I think a good many points of view were shared and I came away learning some things myself.

Craigslist may be a great idea in some areas, but I've had no luck finding homes for male chicks, cockerels or roosters on Craigslist, even after keeping them advertised for free for several weeks. I've even tried re-homing male chicks among the Amish and they didn't want them. I've ended up raising them for meat but that's a lot of feed for very little meat. I can sympathize with the OP.
