My Coop
Good morning! My name's Rene' and we are expecting our first standard size chickens on Wednesday. We kept Bantams for years (loved them), but decided this go around to get some larger chickens for egg laying. I chose chickens that are supposed to be mostly calm and friendly. We ordered 2 Americana hens, 1 Buff Orpington Rooster & 4 hens, 2 Midnight Majesty Maran hens, 3 Rhode Island Red hens, 1 Salmon Faverolle hen & 3 Welsummer hens. Below is a picture of our Chicken Coop and Pen. Our coop was built for Banty's so we are going to have to enlarge it for our new flock. We will also be adding on to the chicken yard, sadly they will have to mostly be confined to the pen area as there are dogs that roam around just looking for chickens to chase & kill, so I want to provide the largest space I can to keep them safe! I love chickens and I'm ready to have them in my yard again!

Helle and welcome to BYC, what bantys did you have? :welcome :welcome :welcome
Hello and thank you for the welcome! We had many different breeds! Cochin, Old English Game, Silver Sebright, Mille Fleur, Porcelain D'Uccles...and many others, but I have to say my favorite was my Black Tailed White Japanese hen, she was awesome! I just noticed that you are from Eastern WA. That's where we are also from!
