Getting started next week....

Hello everyone. I am new to the site (although I have browsed it quite a bit) and new to baby chicks. I am about to pick up 2 bantam chicks tonight that are about 5 weeks old. I have a few questions.

How long before they can be put out in the coop? I am in Connecticut and it has been a mostly mild winter although we do have a few cold nights here and there where it is in the 20s to 30s. I will be keeping them indoors at first. My Millie Fleur is out there alone now and she does fine, but she is just under a year old and very fat and fluffy.

What should I feed the chicks? I feed my hen a combo of layer pellets, cracked corn and treats of veggies and such.

I have one Millie Fleur that is just under a year old. She was free range and lost her only friend to a hawk :( . I have since built a large run and now keep her enclosed. I am getting the chicks to keep her company. She seems a little depressed since being alone. How and when should I introduce the chicks to her? Are they too small and will she harm them? She is pretty friendly except I am wondering about pecking order. I know she will be in charge, but don't want her to hurt the chicks in the process.

Thank you for any and all advise.
