I'm so excited!!\
I can't wait until I'm able to bring them home that day when they come in.
It'll be exciting in a few months when I can start introducing them to Colonel and Duchess behind the fence.
It'll be just like when I raising Colonel and Duchess, except this time both ducklings will be the same age.

A few questions,
Is it possible to train the ducklings to not quack so much? Like getting them to understand that they won't get what they want if they quack?
How long will a 40 lb bag of pellets last between 2 ducklings?
Is it possible to get them to follow me around a lot if I handle them every day? Because I didn't handle the previous two a lot.

I'll keep you all updated when I get them next week!

Awesome!

No, Ducks are going to quack no matter what, giving them plenty of activities to do such as providing a kiddie pool or treats may occupy them a bit, but don't expect them to be quiet all the time. I go through a 40lb bag every week and i have 40 birds so it should last you a while. Hanging out with them a lot and offering treats occasionally will no doubt get them to follow you. What Breeds?

Here is a link to ducklings feed consumption.

My KC ducklinga hardly made a noise, but i raised 8 at a time and their food never went empty ever. Also they always had acess to a pool they didnt have to swim in so not to deep. After week 5. I wasnt raising pets so i made sure they didnt associate me with food by making an auto feeder. That filled the trough every 4 hours. It took me. 2 large bags of grower crumble before they could eat normal food. But i made my own mix of baby duck food.

After week 3 i gave them this
1. 30% grower/starter
2. 30% oats
3. 10% black seed
4. 10% sunflower seed
5. 10% barley
6. 10% flax seed

I put all this in a coffee grinder or food precessor , using this lower my cost to about half of just straight grower. And 8t helped the babys become custome to grazing sooner

Besides adding vitamin B to there diet to help prevent leg problems, Chick feed is designed to properly support youngsters so you don't need to add anything.

Just so everyone is clear about this. I still have our 2 previous ducks as seen in my profile picture. I know what they need including the Vitamin B.
I was just asking some simple questions as this year, it will just be the ducklings instead of last year where Colonel was raised with baby chickens.
I know they will still quack, I just wanted to keep them quieter as my parents are annoyed at our current female quacking.
And to those who haven't seen my other posts, I'm getting 2 female Blue Runners to add to our mini 2 duck flock.
