Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Anyone heard from Oz again ever? Is he alive? Back to California? So he Ok? Just bumped into this thread 2 days ago, got hooked reading all entries, relived some of my childhood overseas travels with my parents.

He appears to be alive, I messaged him on his farm's facebook a while ago and he said he's been busy and he would be posting here next week.... well, next week came and went... but at least he seems to be alive and well. Lots going on at the farm it looks like from looking at the facebook page.

Thanks guys, it's amazing how we developed affinity to certain people here, and we feel like they're part of our life.

Hi, My name is Deepwaterchicks and I have been a lurker since 2013.

I live in a subtropical climate and keeping chickens is tough in the summer! I have been reading this thread all these years, and find it so uplifting when I am down. I read about Oz having some big disappointments and he just dusts himself off and keeps going and it encourages me. I think 4 years of fabulous stories means he has earned some help in keeping the thread alive, so you guys doing that are awesome! And actually, this thread is not just about Oz, so I am missing updates from everyone else here too! Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and humor here! It all is so warm and enjoyable to read. And I learn so much helpful information too! As for me, I have Black Copper Marans, Cuckoo Marans, and Blue Andalusians. Also a Great Pyrenees dog that loves to dig.

I wonder if it would be fun for us to do what they do on TV: post re-runs - post your favorites from this thread over the years. Here is my personal favorite conversation (I just pasted text because it was not all in one post, I have never done this before). I still repeat this conversation to people because it's just that funny.

"As a kid in Sydney, during spring we would have to wear a beer box on our head going to school because of the australian magpie. The became very territorial.

-Kusanar

Gota wonder why a soda box or greenbeen box didn't work?
-Scott
It's Australia mate! It has to be a beer box!
-Ashburnham
None of the neighborhood drank soda
-Ozexpat"

Lol! I still laugh out loud about this! I studied abroad in Australia and can totally relate!
