i also eat pig skin and even goat skin when done om a spit!
Use a cone it restrains them in the position that keeps them pretty much hypnotized. If you hold a chicken upside down by its feet it will petty much relax or go to a sort of hypnotized state.
Most definately Yay. You can also just skin the bird and render out the fat along with the rest of the fat you want to remove from the carcass. Then take the skin and cut it up into strips and toss it all in a frying pan on low heat. The fat will render out and the skin will crisp up..... You can use it like bacon crumbles on salads.... But the fat .... Oh My GAWD..... once rendered it pretty much keeps forever.... use it for stir fry or any where you might use butter.
Look up recipes for Schmaltz..... Oh here is a good one I wanna try this one one day.... I may anyway just with a store bought bird.
The pin feathers I hear can be more predominant at certain times.... I forget which. You can pluck em out with tweasers. But they are sanitary.....
I've been a vegetarian since I was 5 years old so i don't think I would be able to disbatch anything unless it was in pain. That being said I applaud you guys for having the strength to eat your own birds. It is very inspiring.
Love pig skin especailly when its really crispy. Never thought about Goat skin.... I suppose the "de-hairing" process is the same? Scald Scrape and blowtorch?
I have never done it but I am reading volumes about it all.... I couldnt do Vegetarian but thats me.....
Actually it just burns off on the spit.
It also keeps the meat very moist
LOL, hubby says we are all disgusting, vile people. He says, "Do you know what those birds were rolling in????"
I guess I shouldn't tell him that I sometimes use chicken feet when I'm making a broth...
If I told my husband about the whole pan-frying chicken skin thing....he'd about fall over...LMBO!!!!
Tell your hubby that the heat kills all the germs and store bought meat have been in much worse conditions
