Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I have to say I am really please with the look of these pigs. ALthough I like the pink guys, the spots really do ad character. I also like the toughness of crossbreds.

I have learnt a lot about pig breeding in the last few weeks. Its amazing how mant sites actually sell fresh pig semen over the internet. It ranges from 23 to 150 dollars per dose. Some of the highest price stuff is from prize winning cross breds. I will have fun with this.

Mrs Oz is at the farm. She went to put up the Christmas tree and most of our decorations have oxidized. The effects of salt and humidity continue to surprise me.

She is very excited about her new fruit trees that the duck guy arranged for me. Next week we will walk the place and decide where they will go. They will get 4ft square hog wire fences around them to stop the animals nibbling on them. It onlt takes one goat escaping to devastate three years of love and attention.

My flight is in 60 hours. So much to do. I have the freight guys coming between 7 and 9 tomorrow morning to pick up the two monster boxes I am shipping. They will be there in 6 weeks. Then its the egg run. North to Lancaster and then down to San Diego. A nice 300 mile jaunt. Sat night will be repacking eggs.

When my son arrived at the farm, he spend some time looking for me. He then went to his Mom and said: "Daddy is not here. He must be at the airport."

I soon will be.
