Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

It's a beautiful day here at CocoBeach. The new 5 coop D block is getting closer to completion. A couple of no rain days will see it finished.

More Marans hatched today. Dominic did not date his eggs so every day is a surprise. We have made hatch day Thursday going forwarded so we can airship on Fridays.

The new buck goat has settled in. He is so quiet compared to Caprino. He will do great to improve the size of local goats.

We have been installing the farrowing pens we made so many months ago. We had to trim the flooring to fit. We will make a brooder light box for the piglets and fit water nipples today and tomorrow.

I am going to do some tool repairs and maintenance in between other tasks.

The final push is "all systems go".

Bernie and Rollito are working well together. The tasks assigned to them Thursday to Sunday were all completed. The yard looks fantastic. All garden beds are weeded including the area around each fruit tree.

For the first time in a few weeks the place seems very cohesive.

We are expecting guests this afternoon. I had a poor sleep last night so I am hoping I can turn them out pretty early. It's also our 19th wedding aanniversary. We plan to have at least another 19 so I guess a date night will have to wait.

Oz, tell Mrs. Oz good job for putting up with you for this long, and hopefully a lot longer still

4pm. I feel good. Since these three started we have accomplished so much each day.

Tomorrow we have to attack the garage. It's one of those things we ask hate doing by mine is out of control. I need to set up two tool boxes so each guy is accountable for his own tools. I also need to find a few things that I've buried.

The next day we'll do the pump shed.

Then we have to build brooders and wind breaks for all the new fruit trees. November brings the salt laden winds that decimate plants.
