YOU just KNOW I will jump in here with the TOSSING OF THE EGGS OZ!!! READ THE PROCESS FIRST PLEASE :lau https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching you will be at the CANDLE AND TAP stage!
CANDLE & Tap!
Candle and look for an internal pip. Pencil mark the air cell,

Below is what an internal pip it looks like.
The beak is thrust through the inner membrane into the air cell.
Tap with your fingernail GENTLY on the air cell and hold to your ear, Can you hear a peep?
NOW THE REST IS ALL in the ASSIST ARTICLE !!! :highfive:
I assisted one wyandotte already. He came out looking worse for wear but is picking up. Another pipped but is slow to progress. I will bust him out in the morning if he does not get out on his own. The others are void of all sound and movemeñt. I cannot see internal pipping with my super bright LED flash light

I have to leave for manila at 9 am. Unless I can get these awake and moving on the next 10 hours they a toast. I will be gone 72 hours and tour assisted hatching thread is way above bernie the gardeners pay grade. I will not toss them but hope I come back from manila without the chore of cleaning up a bator with an exploded egg.

This is where I cheat & pip the air cell to check the condition of the membrane. A nice white membrane likely still has a viable chick. Watch for movement. If you don't see any, gently touch the membrane. If the chick is alive it will wiggle. No wiggle or a discolored membrane means dead chick, proceed with eggtopsy but watch for blood. Blood means a live chick even if it didn't move or the membrane is slightly discolored.

So I was lying in bed knowing that I would not sleep.

I picked up the slow wyandotte and barely touched the pipped area of the shell when it gave an almighty thrust, busted open the shell and was sitting slipper slimy in my hand. Yum.

The rest were. Non viable. I popped a holding the apex of the air sack after candling, tapping and doing a soft shoedance but no movement. The membranes were nasty and sloughing. They had been dead for a few days with yoke outside so my guess is day 17 or 18.

So that's the hatch. 73 eggs traveled 7500 miles. They endured adrive shaft bearing repair, TSA, flying at 30000 feet. 3take offs 3 landings, waiting a day for their incubator and then a drive in their egg turners n their incubators at 99.8f before arriving in their new beachside villa. 36 are now fluffy butts. Close enough ftp 50% for me.

Tomorrow I have to get up early and fix the electrical in the brooder shack. The light is flickering. Then there ia the egg laying box doors and off to the big city. I will be back here late friday night. I will post lots of pics from Manila that I could not post here.

The adventure continues
