Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

We are checked in at our cheap but clean favorite hotel by Manila airport. It had a rooftop bar and restaurant with a great view of the lights of Manila and the bay.

Tomorrow we have to be in cavite for court. Cavite is the nearest province to southern manila. Both our kids are from that area so we filed the adoption proceedings there. Tomorrow I will have to testify that I have full understanding that adoption is permanent and that the kids will have full access to my estate.

I guess that means they get the chooks if I get hit by a truck.

Hmmmm...being your & your wife's professions are on the higher end of the scale I would say they would likely inherit a bit more. My kids however, my flock probably is worth more than my car at this point.

Thanks Sally.

I am really stunned that my crazy idea has created so much interest withh around three thousand views thus far. This site is amazing. Its a true community in many respects. The help and suggestions here have been priceless to me.

My staff were talkin amongst themselves yesterday after i showed them a hatching chick. One said to another how clever these foerign chicks were to be able to get put of the eggs all by themselves.

Bernie and Analou are excited with the task of raising the chicks. They are also excited about eating the offspring. I gave instruction to eat the two teenage local roosters within the month. Papa rooster will become chicken soup as soon as one of the chicks matures into a nice roo. I will eat that one myself!!

Your chickens are probably worth more than our bech house. How amny do you have?

You have come a long way since Halo.
I have 12 ducks (SQ Runners & BQ Calls), 11 Cochin Bantams, 16 Silkies (mostly SQ), 17 OEGB, 2 SQ White Ameraucanas, 1 EE Bantam, 5 adult quail, 7 baby quail, 3 Hybrid layer hens, 1 mixed bantam layer, 6 juvenile chicks (EE & OE) growing out, 1 freshly hatched Serama & 1 freshly hatched OEGB...think that totals 83 birds at the moment if I counted everyone right without looking in the cages.

2 bators running. 1 due the 28th with 49 Rainbow layers in it, the other staggered hatch with 11 quail due 1/23-2/2 & 39 chicks (11 of mine & 28 rainbow layers) due on 2/5 that were set yesterday. I'll be setting new batches aproximately once per week until fall then I will set whatever the girls give me that is extra that the kids don't eat just to keep a few chicks on hand for the winter for the people I get calls from saying "Something just killed all my chickens, do you have any chicks/birds available"
