I have the most hilarious vision in my head of wealthy young Filipinas running around with fancy chickens while shopping like wealthy young American girls and a Chihuahua.

If they start, I will have Silkies ready!!!!

And you thought I was nuts with the Phillapino BYC chapter

. Here's my next nutty thought, you guys import everything there so I would assume pallets are readily available. Build coops for your wealthy clients so its a package deal..... Would be a great supplimental income for your staff.

but I have seen some that look even better if you strip the pallets down and use them for the exterior although in that enviroment IDK. Oz's designer Coups and chook's, one stop shopping. Oh and if you decide to run with this idea I have a plan for a tool to strip the pallets down much quicker and easier, just some angle iron, a couple cuts and a couple welds.

I just candled the 12 Buff Orpington eggs. that were shipped from the South East.

I have one definite clear and two blood rings. All three will go into the "apartment electric chicken" AKA the sink disposal.

Of the remaining 9, I think there are a couple that are slow and probably early quitters. A hatch of 6 eggs will be marked down as a success.

When planning my next trip (the easter egg run) I am faced with how many eggs to bring of each breed.

I want a good mix of purebreeds that can be found in a barnyard. I have selected Australorps, Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, New Hampshires (cannot find RIR) and Dorkings. To add color eggs and novelty I have Creme Legbars, White Amercuana and Cuckoo Marans. To try cross breeding with the locals I am taking White Jersey Giants and to amuse I am bringing Polish and Silkies. Each breed is quite distinct in looks (except Rocks and Marans) but the Rocks are heritage and their markings will be more precise and I will use zip ties as rings to help with sorting.

To ensure getting at least a couple of hens and a roo of each bread I will need a minimum of 12 of each breed. Ideally 18. That's a lot of eggs. The Rocks and Jerseys are are being shipped to me so I am automatically bringing extra - 24 of each.

The following run will be in May/June and by then I hope to collect some eggs from other sources for genetic diversity but wont try and increase the breeds. With the Blue Laced Reds Wyandottes I have growing in the Phils, that's a dozen breeds.

I love Sussex , Minorca, Java, Brahma and Cochin but not now.

I also have had requests for Turkens and Golden Seabrights.

Paraoakan is a native breed from the island of Palawan in the Philippines. I would like to help preserve this breed as well.

Harmony and I candled the Ameraucana shipped the RIGHT WAY last night..... we have 11 growing on day 7, HOWEVER what is weird to look at them, since they are set fat end up and just being tilted in the egg carton is that 9 of 11 embryos are growing at the top near the air cell, interesting this time around to say the least! I marked the two normals so I can keep track of everyone.... curious if these guys will be stuck or malpositioned. Now I always lay on sides if the air cells are ok, and the emrbyo always is on the side and these you cant realy see the actual embryos as they are under the air cell and span downward so all we see is veins like lightening, we didnt take a pic but I think I will tonight just to show you. Is this how they look in egg turners Oz?
