Whats happening down on the chicken ranch?

Bernie and Dado are working on the coops - well Dado is and Bernie is assisting between tasks.

Ben and Ryan are building the fence. The portion in the house yard is finished with the long run up past Bernie's house and the chicken coop underway.

We have two batches of locally laid eggs in the incubators. One lot is hatching now and a second lot is due next weekend.

The broody is sitting on a doz eggs in the main coop. They are due in two weeks.

No more sightings of the feral cat after we sealed the space above the coop door. Bernie is still out for blood after it stole his family's fish.

Mrs Oz will fly in next weekend from Manila to attend a school meeting. She will take all eggs laid this week back with her for the family to eat.

The memory card from the camera is at the office supply store of my sister in law - the contents should be emailed to me tonight.

We combined the Guineas, local chicks and the imported hatchlings from a few weeks ago into one brooder this morning. The light can now be off during the day - and just on at night for another week. They will then relocate to one of the new coops as a grow-out pen once we get a roll of green mesh wire to Bernie next week.

There is much to do.

Wow I am still in awe of how many chickens and fowl you now have thriving. It must be so much better to be in the last stretch of the adoption process especially since it had taken twice as long. I cannot imagine the tangle of paperwork involved. Yikes. So happy for y'all! Hope the local egg mutt chicks hatch well!
