A BYCer that lives in South Africa is having a hard time getting chickens. I have been chatting with her since I started here and she is a good egg. I want to ship USPS to South Africa. It takes 5 days and costs 78 bucks for a box that will hold 12 well packed eggs.

She has a Brinsea 20 and knows how to hatch so it could be an interesting study.

By the end of the month it should be cooler here and not yet hot here.

so many birds, so few coops

I was asked about molting recently.

Some of our birds have started. We are down about 50% in egg production.

We will use the opportunity to move the adults to smaller coops while they are not producing. We have 300sq feet of inside coop, 300sq feet of outside coop under full cove and 800sq feet of runs built in 7 coops

we ended up with 14 more
the owner didn't want to feed them all winter so she put a "you need them all price on them"
50 bucks which included 1 adult female 1 adult male & 12 unrelated ducklings (3 weeks old)
i figured i could just put them in with the older muscovies i already had.....wrong
the two 1/2 grown males that i had started to attack the babies
a couple of the babies ended up with bald bloody spots on their backs
so the youngsters are now in their own safe area till they get some size to them
& the bullies are in with the meat birds....they will go camping soon!!!
i found it odd that the aduly male left the babies alone
by doing so he earned his place in the breeding flock

we will be "swimming " in ducks come next year

I am sorry I just saw this. While I am happy to help, you are better off posting in a thread designed for help.

You also need to provide a little more info.

• was it a normal hatch (days incubating, temps ect)?
• did it walk and now cant?
• how are its legs positioned?

You can post the info here as well and I or someone else who comes along may be able too help but people who have time will hang out in the emergencies threads.
