Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

as frowned upon as it is, a few nasty old rabbit traps around a bait will take him out.
had a lead on a trapper but he's leary because my closest neighbor sometimes still lets their dog loose. Here you have to have a license for leghold traps and he has let his expire.... sigh. I have a live trap but so far nothing. I have a couple more old hens I need to process in the next couple of weeks. When I do I will save the guts for bait

i think they were banned in the state i lived in on oz in the ninties.

when i was 14 - in the 70s, i used to put out up to 40 a night for bunnies and did catch several foxes at the hen house with them

A good idea with a live trap is to have a live chicken in a separate cage back on to the live trap. Cover all the sides with plywood or something so the fox can only see and access the chook trough the trap front door.
Live bait is always more attractive to foxes
. We also used to use those old rabbit traps in the 60s and early 70s Oz - a lot of the local cats were named tripod. i could never work out why!

The Filipino Courts shut down Dec 16- Jan 2.

There will be no tax deduction for the adoptions this year.

And the babies wont legally be ours until 2014.

So sorry Oz... They may not be legally yours until 2014, but they have been yours in the more important way for awhile!
they sure have. until the decree is final, there is always a remote possibility that we could lose them. the chances are very very small but none-the-less present

still, there is nothing we can do but live each day and enjoy our amazing family.

the adventure continues.
