Indonesian food is truly my fave
Yummy. Rijsttafel. Gado gado, babi pangang... nasi.. bami... atjar tjampoer... sate!
Most Chinese restaurants in Holland are Indonesian-Chinese.... imagine my disappointment when I first had 'American' Chinese. I've learned to adjust, there's still some good dishes out there... but it's not like authentic Indonesian-Chinese (don't ask my why those two get lumped together. Even 'Indonesian' cookbooks have chinese recipes in them *laugh*)
I love fu yung hai, which is strangely not the same as the American Egg foo young.. Indonesian fu yung hai has a sweet red sauce, rather than no sauce or a salty broth/gravy. I guess that's really the difference, Chinese as found in the US is often really REALLY salty, while Indonesian Chinese has often a sweet/sour and spicy note.

You're killing me! Eat well when you're there.. and mail me some
