Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

mangoes!!!
You can keep all of those things!! About 8 years ago there was a sale at the grocery store on mangoes. They were actually really tasty ones too. I ate a TON of them. Shortly after my lips and inside my mouth broke out in a rash. Come to find out, mango and poison ivy are in the same family and the skin contains urushiol, which is the oil that causes the rash from poison ivy. BLEH. I can walk within 10 feet of poison ivy and end up with a rash. Never again!
making some 4x1 short boards

Impressive! Just last night I caught my husband looking at conversion kits for his chain saw. We have a lot of cedar on our land that needs thinning. I had to comment that in the Philippines they do it all by hand and in flip flops!

Don't give your husband any ideas!

This week's to do list for Mrs Oz:

Have coop three cleaned out and re-littered for the 3 week old "kano" chicks coming out of the brooder.

Add 10lb hanging feeders to all coops.
Clean out pipe feeders and fill them all with crushed oyster shells.
On 8"x8" squares of plywood, paint the number for each coop to aid communication.
Build the grow out nipa hut and pen
Have the chainsaw guy mill the new logs as well as have him try and get as many 1x4 boards out of the left overs of the big log.

Set quail, chukar, guinea on Wednesday morning.
Set chicken eggs on Saturday 6pm.

If going to Kabankalan, take Ibo to fill sacks with Mok the duck man's composted sawdust.

Plant Ipil-Ipil seedlings every 10 feet along newly completed fence.

Sew 100 Ipil-Ipil seeds in 6" pots nursery.

Sew thirty-six tomato seeds, 18 pepper 18 egg plant seeds in flats

Go to sawmill for another trailer load of fresh sawdust. Layer 6 inches of sawdust and 1" of chicken manure or three inches of pig or carabao manure along with spent rice husk litter from brooders in new compost bay
Mrs Oz picked up the bamboo instead of fresh sawdust but it can wait. building the new run is more important. The clan head back to Bacolod in a few hours. Mrs Oz will be here in three days

She also collected 80 hollow blocks for the two duck ponds to be built next week.

The 40+ sacks of sawdust compost mixed with a little urea will nicely amend the gardens at the front of the house with some spare to perhaps add a veggie bed or two.

This thread has some so far. You and your team/s have come so far. Long ago I read a conversation along the lines of;

"How about some eggs for breakfast"
"We don't have any"
"Grab some from down the road"
"They don't have any"
"We need to do something about this......"

Now you have a dang buffalo!

I'm sure you have seen this, but I will leave it here again for anyone else! Hahahaha

Hahaha, legs are pretty good thanks Oz. Only 50km though!

I considered wearing the blue shirt, but I had already commited to another cause. I was a co-organiser to run for Team Mito, an effort to raise awareness for Mitochondrial disease. http://www.amdf.org.au/teammito.htm

We had about 40 or so runners in Team Mito kit, was a fantastic day. My first marathon and first ultra at the same time and placed 8th overall, 4:44.08.

A bit more training and I might be able to pull off that 50 miler for the Phils trip!

Sometimes i want to hug and murder bernie all at once.

This pen supposed to be the Andalusians but i mentioned a red hen in there. Now count the toes.

Now I have to count toes on the red roosters. We just may have a pair.
