from what I read they're pretty easy birds.

Now y'all got me curious about some muscovy's.... Hm
So.. no quack? So they're quiet? Or do they honk or something..

Ducks are hard to pluck anyway. If they broke their knife it must have been pretty dull. There are some parts of the US who dont allow you to have Muscovys unless you are raising them for meat. Something about being an invasive species.... I read that a very long time ago.

they hiss and make a chruble churble nose. But No because they arent from the same family tree as ducks... or if they were it was a very very long time ago. They originated in Mexico and parts of the US. Because of this if you cross them with say a Peking duck the offspring will be sterile. and called a Mule duck. In France they use Mules for FoiGras production.
I just looked up recipes for them and I am going to give Duck Procheuto a try. they are also very big One fellow on youtube was talking about one duck making four meals. they are leaner than regular ducks but they still have alot of fat on them. If I can obtain one already butchered I would like to taste the meat.... I love duck anyway... but Muscovys are a very very dark meat.

Congrats to all.......what a cutie
I checked craigslist.. One farm nearby raises heritage birds. They're all pretty looking and stuff. Another person nearby has muscovy ducklings for $6 a piece.
I'm thinking no. 1 might be offended if I ask for an adult I can butcher![]()
No.2 would take a while to raise. Ofcourse, I've got a broody who just hatched chicks today, do you think she would notice a duckling?![]()
Awww hows momma doing?
