minimum salary 1500 php per month (approx USD 35)
bed space (many sleep in the kitchen on a mat)
food (most people get dried fish and low grade rice and leftovers - sometimes left over from the boss' plate)
8 hours off in a day (does not have to be continuous)
24 hrs straight off per week (can be accrued)
1 week vacation
13th month pay at Christmas ( a bonus) after employment for one year
health insurance and social security after 6 months
our gardener and maid work 8.5-9 hours per day not 16
their salary is 3 times minimum
they get food when we are here and rice, vegetables that they are growing as part is their job, eggs, chicken and duck.
they get either Nov 1st or New Year off and all other major holidays are split. all are paid.
social security and health insurance from day one and we pay both employee and employer contributions
school uniforms, supplies for kids. tuition to private school (approx $25 per month at minimum and up to $100)
clothing for workers and family
a weeks pay per part of quarter worked as Christmas bonus
40% off all copra sales (php 30-45k per year)
All money from vegetables and coconut byproducts
