Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Don't worry, I don't eat any of their eggs - too valuable!
thats funny but true for me as well

I have a ban on eating eggs laid on the farm. I need to hatch everything. that egg could turn into 500 chicks in a years time

i pay 15 cents an egg for cage chook eggs sadly.

the mix breed lot should be open for egg harvesting in a month.

I think that getting large animals to market is one of the biggest obstacles to farming, I really enjoy the "get er done" attitude in your photo of the hog on the side car.

its more of a moratorium. we had to recover from Dominic's chicken death march.

we will be back to eating eggs in no time. in the 3 months since Bernie has been hatching eggs again, we have not lost any birds (except the 3 that Jun-Jun reported dead while Bernie was off)

At the moment I am selling between 10 and 15 dozen pure breed hatching eggs a week for $15 to $25 a dozen
A nice little earner!

That IS nice... wish I could get in on the hatching egg business, I need a little business I can do from home. I used to do freelance artwork from home, but the with kids that's come to a screeching halt.

Alas, not in our current home. Maybe in time.
