those are not the results i have been getting :idunno

not sure why though

I sent Pig a PM on this because I didn't want to get off topic on Oz's thread, but since the discussion started, here's my two cents worth.

I, like Pig stated above, get different results.  I know, I know, it should not be possible, but I get blue, self blue, lavender, and black along with splash chicks from my Ameraucanas.  I have a splash rooster over a splash hen and two blue wheaten hens.  Most of the chicks are splash.

I don't know what hatches from each hen because I do not segregate the eggs, but I get some interesting colors that are not supposed to happen..........

I was resisting responding, but Oz said it is a topic, so...

Not sure if this is why piglett is having strange results, but it sounds like it is what is happening with Wisher's birds... self blue (lavender) is totally different from BBS blue (andalusian blue)... self blue works similar to splash when bred to black, but it shouldn't be bred with blue... mixing self blue and blue creates self blues, blues, dark self blues and light blues... it becomes almost impossible to identify which is which and since each one needs to be bred back to it's own proper color to breed true again the colors become muddied and mixed up... Wisher, do you think this might have happened somewhere?
Just an idea... :)
And no idea what this would do to splash, but ???

Mrs Oz is at the farm.

Apart from the desperate need for rain, things seem OK.

Lillian is diving her crazy but thats normal. She told me yesterday that her child was weak and with a feaver. When I asked what the childs temp was, she said she did not take it because she was busy working. This upset me. She took the kids temp. It was 36.4. normal. after extracting info from her, the kid was buised because fe fell the day before.

We had a good hatch. We also set quail, chukkar, guinea and chicken eggs, The muscovy duck eggs are under a duck and a couple of broodies.

the buff orps are all broody at once. the egg count has all but disappeared in that coop.

we have 30 birds shipping tomorrow.
