Ocap, you're right. Perhaps the word "unnecessary" should be added. Although I think not taking off pretty much ensures you won't crash. The Helsinki airport did have it's first airplane accident in something like ten years about a week or two ago. A plane was taxiing and bumped into the terminal at a whopping speed of 2 miles per hour.

Even at only 2 mph, the impact forces of such a heavy item like an aircraft, can cause interesting damage in the wing and to the mounting points.

atleast with these long haul planes there are 4 flight officers and not to many mountains in between here and there

A super typhoon which has developed into a dangerous storm unusually early in the season is heading towards the outer islands of the Philippines.
Super Typhoon Maysak, which is gusting up to 184mph (296kph), has passed the Yap Islands and is moving west towards the archipelago.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Centre has put out an alert and warned that waves could reach up to 44ft (13m) in height.
It is currently the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane.
The typhoon is forecast to move over open water until Saturday evening, when it will make landfall towards the northern part of the Philippines sometime during the day on Sunday.

get some rain than a storm like that. Hope everyone stays

Its a big storm

Easter, or holy week, is the biggest travel time in the Philippines. Every bus, ferry and plane will be loaded to capacity.

Apart from storm surge of 40 feet and winds of 140 mph, the temptation by bus drivers who work on commission to take risks may make for dangerous travel

Some say it will weaken. Lets hope so

I vote for a tropical depression that hangs out for a week.
