Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

STORM WATCH 2015 a picture tells a thousand words our "windy with a chance of showers" storm from the space station
Stay safe Oz. That image doesn't make comfortable - even from thousands of miles away. Every time I see an eye that clear, it reminds me of Hurricane Katrina. Here is an image of that one:

I'd say the contents should be pretty okay, but the ingredients look like it's not made from very high quality stuff... Sort of like feeding your dog with the cheapest possible dog food from the supermarket, with the added extra that you're eating the eggs and meat yourself. But probably a good, affordable option as an all flock feed.
I disagree with Felix on labelling

Most feed companies in the USA dont list individual ingredients because they change continuously based on availability and pricing. It could contain millet this week and sorghum the next (just using as examples - I am not sure on nutrional values of each.)

There are those of us that eat Kobi beef at $100/kg and those that eat $8/kg stew beef from the local super market. The enzymes in our gut cannot tell the diffference and the chicken has 24-30 taste buds so its not going to have a connoisseur's pallet. The body absorbs the protein the same way.

Some grains do contain anti-nutrients that effect absorption but not in major quantities.

In the Southern hemisphere typhoons and hurricanes are called cyclones - and travel in a clockwise pattern

Northern hemsiphere are anti-clockwise

Might have something to do with different labeling practices in Europe and the US. To me that just looks very suspicious, since here each and every ingredient would be listed. I'd post an example, but it would be in Finnish so it might be a bit difficult to understand.

When it comes to meat, I agree with you. Making an excellent ingredient taste great isn't that hard, but making something delicious out of the cheapest parts of an animal is where the fun is. Personally I do find machine separated meat to be a bit icky though, but the ecological part of me sees it's merits too.

Rye is a good example of an inhibiting grains, you shouldn't have a higher content than 10 percent of it in most animal feeds. Not that it's used that much anyway.

Yup, that's not very informative. I like to know where my feed comes from. I've met the farmer for about 75% of my ingredients.

Purina mainly deals in pet food here. I'd say it's mid range kibble in that product range.

Some dont us to want really know what they are adding

Hydrolyzed Poultry Feathers are a listed ingredient in Nutrena Chick Starter. Personally, I dont have a problem with it but some might
