howdy.
so here are the blow by blow details for Phage.
At just after 2 pm I was leaving the rendezvous location I had set up with @phage to collect the elusive Legbar eggs. My mind was running because she also have me eggs from a gentleman named Kevin. Kevin gave me some eggs previously that ended up being naked neck ayam cemani derivatives. he won't tell me what the eggs are. I have to weight and hatch.
The 5 freeway was a parking lot with six hours to go until check in closed. I decided to take the old coastal highway 101 route. it was a beautiful day and a great decision
Ten minutes down the road my gas light comes on. I then realize I left my wallet at home. I did some quick calculations. I needed 4 gallons to get home. there was a gallon in the tank, so three more.... I was picturing myself as "that guy" at the has station begging for a couple of gallons of fuel.
As I pulled up in the has station I found $10 in my ashtray. I added some coins and managed enough for 3.5 gallons. I made it to Anaheim as the gas light came back on.
it was now 530pm. 3 hours till check in. on my list of things to take to the Philippines was Nido powdered milk for the kids. it's more than double the price there. I had 10 cans coming from
Walmart but it had not arrived. a quick shower, a repack of he eggs and onto
Walmart for whatever stock they had in milk.
I scored 4 cans and made it to the airport 10 minute before my goal. it was a long time since I was early.
my wife's aunt was at the airport a few minutes after me. I had agreed to take her to the Philippines. she is 82 with mild dementia. her husband endorsed her to me and we were of to the lounge. "The Nenz" as I call her was in her element in the lounge. she filled he bags with all the snacks we could carry.
the plane pushed back right on time. things were looking good.
then the plane stopped. an announcement came over the PA. they had to reboot the plane. this did not sound good. we sat in complete darkness for 5 minutes until all the systems came on line. we were then towed back to the gate.
all I could think about was the delay. if we left too late we would miss out connection and be stuck in manila for the typhoon.
two hours later the nenz asked me if we had taken off....
we left LA 3.5 hours late. we arrived in manila 40 minutes before our connecting flight was due to leave.
we were last to board but made it. 55 minutes later the kids met me at Bacolod airport and life was good.
