I posted a few weeks ago about having a broody that wouldn't give up. So I let her sit on two big girl eggs. came home from work to a nice surprise. Like I need more chicks.

nice to see the younguns

we have had a good day.

all the candidates knew each other and decided to travel together and show up at once. I decided to do a group interview then one on one. it meant 2 hours sitting on my butt instead of 4.

we have two finalists. they will return tomorrow for Dodong to meet and have input.

after the interviews it was off to sex quail. we decided not to seed them lol.

the cotornix are XLD-1 jumbos. the males weigh just over 500g or 1lb2oz. we banded them so we know the old generation and we will dress the extra males and make adobo.

next we played musical brooders. the older chicks were given Coryza vaccine and placed in a grow out coop. the growing chicks were moved to the larger brooders to ready the heated brooders for tomorrow's hatch.

finally we moved the feed to the room that was occupied by Bernie. as we no longer have Lillian and the kids, we can house the three guys in the cottage. we will now have space for another brooder in the egg house which will come in handy now we are hatching quail guineas and chukkar.

I am going to do the chick shipment on Sunday with the new employee. we will have 6 hours to get to know each other.

I hope your derriere pulled through the interviews without much discomfort. Have you found a good cushion to sit on yet?
