They fit the same Both directions. I cut one row off a couple of my green trays so that two would fit on the same shelf (one cut and one uncut go on each shelf).

How strange my green trays fit perfect, i do have to put a spacer on the outside of all my trays so they do not shift as they are not quite as wide as the shelves,i can incubate 6 trays at 36 peafowl eggs pointy end down per tray ,that equals 216 eggs to fill them all up.
How many eggs did your green tray hold before and after you cut them?

My trays are also the same both ways, 12 7/8" I guess I will put them on the table saw and trim off about 1/4" from one side, then they will fit and still hold 36 eggs each. I may do some more measuring first, "Measure twice and cut once".
