getting those stubborn girls to start laying AGAIN!!!!!

I haven't tried the cayenne pepper but mine stopped laying recently (I assumed it was because it started getting dark so early) so I put a fluorescent light in the coop on a timer to extend the day. Within a week they were back to laying 7 a day on average with 12 chickens that are less than a year old. The buff's seem to be laying the best but the Araucana quit laying completely. (I have two barred rocks and some "mutts" in there also.)

I just looked on the web and it seems that it is effective. I have both flakes and powder. Iwill start today.

Some of the old timers come up with the ridiculous but slowly comes out to be the sublime.

But to tell the truth I just got a mess of one liners. Not a whole page of how to and what to do.

Basically what is on this page is what they said.

Add cayenne or pepper flakes to their feed or oatmeal and continue for a few weeks a few times a week. That it warms up their systems and let them produce. One other thing that seems to work they say is it repells worms. So either way it is a good thing to give them.

I will look more, OK.?

I could not find anyting on it either. I just went with PawPaw's theroy. He had chicken houses way back and they used red pepper to get their hens going. I will be getting more pepper this week to add for mine again.

I told you it works...lol...got my advice from a posting by an old farmer on BYC ezboard site years ago.....
