Hello! I have had a quick scan through here and can't really find what I'm looking for. I have a hen who has just started laying (she got left behind at Christmas

)) and i was wondering if a) One hen to a tom is enough and b) I read somewhere that the plain white meat turkey toms become too heavy for there own legs....is this true or is there a way around this or am I really just better off buying my turkey chicks each year?
Thank you!

I'm going to assume the hen is a commercial Broad Breasted variety. You could go with something like a Bourbon tom to produce pretty big mutts for meals. If you are focused on the holidays, instead of year round turkeys, then it comes down to what you consider most economically/gastronomically sound by your lights.
