We use the good old fashioned metal mouse traps. My DH plays with them a bit so they snap fast and really well! Over on a second. We caught one last year that decided to salute us by sticking its tail straight up in the air!

Do they eat it?

Yes they eat it and when they get a drink there belly fills with air. Works just like the poison without harming your other critters.

That's the kind I use... just a regular old fashioned mouse trap and some peanut butter. Don't buy the traps with the plastic cheese looking bait holder... for some reason they don't work like the ones with the metal bait holder.

UUh oh.. thats what hubby JUST came home with!

The tom cat with the little fake looking piece of cheese as the bait holder...

I use the plain wire and wood snap traps. The ones with the small metal trigger. Usually kills them instantly. My biggest issue with the big plastic disposable ones is that it seems so wasteful. Seems like a lot of resources being used up to kill a tiny critter.

I also use glue traps inside the house. I can hear the scuffling or squeaking when a mouse is caught and I'll immediately pinch their necks to kill them.

Is that how you do it? Pinch their necks? HOw exactly do you do it?
I wasnt sure..and i didnt want to mess it up and hurt the thing more... so we just used a hammer to its head..

I think the neck snapping would be..uh... less messy...

Google "mouse cervical dislocation" and you'll find pictures and methods to do it. That is what we use in lab for our mice. Kind of put fingers in pinching shape behind head, and pull on tail till you crack the neck and you feel it go loose.
