The last two days one (or both) of my Anconas have laid giant eggs. Their eggs sizes have been getting bigger since they started laying not this much this suddenly. The amount of eggs I'm getting has also dropped from around 7 to 4 these last two days, not sure if that's related or not, but are the giant eggs possible indicators of a nutrient deficiency or other issue? I wouldn't have worried about the first one too much but then I got another today.

(Middle egg is about the size I usually get)

I don't think a nutritionally deficient duck would lay such eggs.

As long as it's more or less normal and doesn't mean she has some health problem, then I'm fine with them! I guess it's an individual duck thing, since your Pekin is doing it regularly?

Is it possible for a single yolk egg to be that large? If it was not double yolk would it hatch a giant duckling? Just wondering.

The big eggs are likely to have two yolks and if hatched would have 2 ducklings in one shell. I don't know if that ever happens in nature. We eat our eggs and don't incubate
