Giant egg

Went out to my coop to get the daily eggs and I found this gigantic thing.

I have two barred rocks hens, and two Rhode island hens. All have been laying since dec. Is this normal? I'm guessing its a double yoker. I don't think the pic justifies the size cause i have a pretty good size hand.

Yes its completely normal. My red sex links do that all the time. It might just be a two-fer A 2 for 1 enjoy!

Sometimes younger chickens will lay a random egg or two starting out. Double yolkers do occasionally happen. I always feel sorry for the poor hen that laid the giant egg! Ouchy! Anyways, don't worry! Large eggs happen as well as small eggs, even ones without a shell can be found!

I had a hen that laid a giant egg, twice the size of a normal one, twice in a row. Only one was a double yolk.
