But, don't you have the same problem with Brahmas? They have a pea comb, Silkies have a walnut comb. I would guess that the broiler silkies likely still have some genes for the walnut comb, even if they're not expressing.

Walnut combs are made up of both Rose comb, & Pea comb genes.
R/R, P/P
R/r, P/P

Broilers have lots of recessive comb genes: R/r, P/p.

Brahma: P/P, or P/p.

Some of my silkies have recessive single comb genes hidden, so I'll most likely get single combed silkies if I bred them to another silkie, or brahma with recessive genes.
