Gideon's Got a Girlfriend! Gideon's Got a Girlfriend! She Isn't Pleased!

Gideon looks wonderful and so very handsome :) I am so sorry about Suede but, I know that he has had a full and wonderful life with you!

I have never had a rooster live as long as Suede. He would be 6 in January, if he made it that far, but alas, I can't see that happening. This summer was rough on him. The winter may be even worse, if he makes it that far. Here he is in one of the snooze fits he has taken to in recent weeks-you can see how dark he looks and how tired. As I told Julie Batchelor, who sent me the eggs he hatched from, he's been a treasure and a blessing. Never a moment's trouble.

He does look tired :( I'm sure the severe heat hasn't been easy on the old guy. Maybe, if the winter isn't too harsh he will actually do better then in the heat. All we can hope for is that they have enjoyed their lives with us and that we have enjoyed our lives with them. What a blessing to have had him to enjoy for over 5 years! I am looking forward to the day when I can say the same.

It's sad when time runs out for our feathered friends. I'm glad he had you too look after him though. I'll be thinking of you.

My big blue love looks so tired. I am so tempted to drive down there and bring him blueberry muffins, a seed block and hours of attention. Cyn...it breaks my heart to think about losing him but he will always be one special boy.

Just for fun, posting a couple of videos of Gideon, one of his crow, which usually ends in a "air from a balloon" wheeze, LOL. He loves to torment my Belgian D'Anver rooster, Aubrey, every chance he gets.

Gideon has a new home, come the end of the month. He will have his own harem of seven lovelies and no daddy Ike to chase him away from them. He deserves that. He's turning out to be a pretty good guy, our Gideon. Still has never shown an ounce of aggression toward us, even though he is still a bit nervous, always on watch for his dad or one of the hens to come after him.

You can really tell how much he's filled out in these clips.

Sounds like she's been smoking too much LOL. He's gorgeous, Cyn! I turned the volume up on my laptop to hear the crow and my son and his 4yo friend both jumped! Friend stares at the computer, "Where's that chicken??" Kids are so funny.
I had a roo that looked a bit like Gideon. Sold him this afternoon, finally. He's been nothing but trouble and things are more peaceful in the run already. I can't afford to pick anymore, but lucky for him, he's not going straight to the pot.
