Hi guys,
I am new to chickens and have myself a gingerham and a bantom. I got them on the 5th december (they were 12 wks). Was told they would lay around 16wks. The Bantom has laid lots of eggs and gone broody, then laid again, but the gingerham is now about 30-32wks and still no eggs. She poops and sleeps in her nesting box and is normally running around squaaking while the bantom is laying, now the gingerham is withdrawn, closes her eyes (sometimes just one) and stays in her coop for ages. I found her hiding in a corner of my vegie patch the other day under a wood pailing. Her poop looks normal. I have checked and you can't see an egg sticking out. Have tried giving her a warm bath (read it helps if eggs are stuck). She loved it, just sat there with her eyes closed. I have now separated her and put her in a cage covered in a blanket to keep her extra warm at night. She doesn't seem to be loosing alot of feathers, I have found the occasional one but it could be from the bantom too.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what it might be please? I have my chooks on a layer mix at the moment (they were on grower until the bantom started laying then I switched), they free range in my vegie patch and out in our grass area and get scraps when we have them. Both have never been wormed before.
Hate seeing her not her usual self.
