Sir Shirley legacy update

Went and checked out the chicks this morning and looked at the eggs. While trying to move one and unstick it from a paper towel it broke….


The other 3 eggs were dudes so the whole lot was chucked.

Of the 4 chicks, one has spraddle legs. And I fear it will need to euthanized. Poor wee chickie. I did hobble the legs but like last years chick I had, it’s hips seem affected.

But on a happier note here are the babies. The spraddle chick is that bottom one

This chick almost has frizzle like feathers, the dark feathers are white tipped give her a grizzled look. She also had he yolk sac exposed but it looks ok now.

All the chicks have white tips on their feathers giving them a grizzled look. Not sure if that is due to barring?

Yes I’ve had mine fly about the hight of a one story house in fright.

How many flight miles is considered old for a Skyhawk? W/ cars I consider non-diesel between 150K to 200K miles too old to be safe…

When I was flying (1980’s), all the planes I flew were from the 80’s 30's, with the exception of a 1946 Taylorcraft.

No idea how many hours were on the airframes or engines, though.

Good question my So Cal friend. The last time my mechanic took off the manifold, told me to replace the entire engine, so I did. Steve Nichols passed away eight years ago (my mechanic) paul took his place but NOT his shoes. It’s a mandatory check up, but I have certified professional people working with me. And I have plenty of professional people helping me raise my chicken family. I thank you all so very much.

I’m flying a dinosaur, I just have to kick her in the tail once in a while to keep her going! What I really wanted was a jet, but that deal went sour. Marie is streak, clean, no structural damage or wear. I usually fly safe (except)
My safety checks go way beyond FAA standards. That’s time consuming also. (More time to spend with my feathered family)!!!
