I got one roughly that size last summer some time. It was so big that it wouldn't fit in an egg carton. I felt kind of bad for the hen. Turned out to be a single yolk.

It was! I wish I'd taken a pic, but my little bro ate it up before the thought ever occured to me! Lol.

I did a search on it, and I don't think it is possible for two chicks to survive. My question is, if the egg was fertilized (I know mine wasn't because I don't have a rooster) would there be two embryos or are there just two yolks? Because the yolk is just food, right?

I have seen a thread on here with a double yoker suriving... It was twins and both lived but the second one needed help out of the shell because it pipped the small end... Not sure where I saw it... but it's on here some place...

Wow! That's really cool! It makes me want to get a roo, but my mom would kill me-- she's a light sleeper. I wouldn't want to eat fertile eggs, anyways...I'm a vegetarian. Maybe I could get some fertile eggs though and put them in the nest. How does that work? Would I have to wait until one of my girls goes broody? What causes broodiness? Is there a way to trigger it?
