Can anybody help me tell if my Pekin duck is a girl or boy? I'm new to ducks, and have been trying to figure out how to tell... I thought the voice sounded more like the male pekin ducks but he/she has no drake feather.
Female???
Here's a link to a video of him with a good quack at the end- sorry it's upside down

I don't know how old he is... we bought him at a poultry auction last weekend. He was such a nice duck, and the guy that was bidding on him was taking him home for the soup pot, so I couldn't resist! I couldn't bear to see him go home for soup.

In my very uneducated opinion, he's pretty young, but I'm just basing on thick healthy feathers, and "young" looking skin around the face and legs (like how I would estimate a chicken).

I've been calling him Fred, but maybe that's gonna have to change to Wilma! Lol

Oh, and I don't know if this means anything, but he/she is missing some feathers around the breast area. It sort of looks like he is pulling them out himself...maybe if it's a girl that's a nesting thing? Or maybe he's just neurotic!

Wow, I'm really getting some disagreement here! we're 2 and 2 votes for girl and boy!
maybe I'm gonna just have to wait and see if he or she lays eggs! Lol
