Girl or Boy?

My all black girl is a Black Jersey Giant. So that may make a difference. And she's so small compared to the others. But I've read that Giants grow more slowly and build up strong bones first and then put on meat.

I really wanted and Astralorp. And the Feed & Fuel had them the week before (the week you were in there) but they were out when I went to buy. I was so disappointed. The guy asked what I wanted and I said a black hen that grows big and is docile. I had no idea that Giants grow to be about 10 pounds. She's going to be HUGE! I hope she can fit through the hen house door when she's fully grown.

Some people on here don't think I have an australorp though because mine has white ear lobes (like yours). Does mine look similar to yours? Maybe I have the same thing as you. Does yours have black legs?

I'm by no means an expert, but I think she looks like my JG Coco.

These are not great quality photos. She's tough to photograph because she's so dark. And it's usually overcast when I'm out in their run.

I have raised many chickens and my vote is roo based on the tail feathers. I hope, I am wrong.

If what they gave you is really a Jersey Giant, than that is what I have. They look the same.

Your CM looks a lot darker than mine - my guess would be a hen. The tailfeathers on mine at this point (they are the same age) look more roo-ish and the comb is a little bigger and redder.

Now I need to figure out if my JG is a hen or roo. I only got 6 so I was hoping they were all girls. Good luck with yours!
