Girls are not laying

My girls aren't laying either! They are 2 years old, and get free-range, and organic feed, and free choice oyster shell. They did go through a period when they weren't getting a lot of feed, but plenty else to eat. We have a 1 1/2 year old sex link who should be laying too, but for some reason she hasn't, for months! I have no broody hens, and no molting. What could be the problem? We are getting really frustrated when we are spending money on healthy, expensive food and get like 1-2 eggs a day out of 7 hens

@hebegray .....so sorry for your incapacitation, so frustrating....BTDT.
Hang in there.
"This too shall pass, might pas like a kidney stone but it will pass."

Birds can molt in fall at younger than 14 months...has to do with the shortening days.
Have had them molt at 8-12 months before, and read of many others doing the same.

You mentioned someone is letting them out...out like in free range out?
Might they be laying out in range area?
If so, might have to keep them cooped to know for sure.

Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for 3-4 days (or longer) can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop 24/7 for a few days to a week, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.
