Girls on their own for a couple days: What great girls we have!

At this time of year for only a few days I'd have no hesitation about eating, selling, or giving them away unless they froze first or something. Even then if they stayed frozen I'd just keep them in the freezer and thaw them as I wanted them. It's December so if you're in the Northern Hemisphere those eggs aren't going to spoil if the shell is uncracked.

In the summer time would be different, but this is winter.

We are on the other side of Canada on Vancouver Island. Beautiful and balmy at 13 degrees today and no forecast of freezing temps. At night it is just about refridgeration temperature so I am sure all will be fine.
I was also worried about leaving them because a couple days ago I thought we had an egg eater but all is good there.
My girls are so spoiled. I hate going away and leaving them! I don`t know how DS and girlfriend would appreciate my 8 poopers roosting in the Christmas tree.
What a sight!

We came home to 22 clean eggs nicely laying in the nesting boxes with no poop whatsoever on them....And, it looks like we do have a second green egg laying EE (I thought the youngest were both laying brown).
Merry Christmas to us from our hens!

our girls....
Fresh eggs for breakfast tomorrow.

What a wonderful surprise!!

I have to leave my 10 week old RIRs for 4 days for a New Year's trip & I was worried sick about it. I've made a large feeder & waterer so that they won't run out, but I'm sure they'll be lonesome.

Have a great trip! I am sure they will be fine. Isn`t it funny how we worry about these little chickens.
The only thing I would have done that we did not is to put out a second waterer. Ours was VERY low when we came back, really surprised us how much water they are actually going through.
