Girls vs Girls

I've thought about it but I really don't want to be bound to just buying from NPIP people.

You don't have to keep doing it, just do it to sell the peafowl. After they are sold (accross state lines for max $) buy from whom you want, but you can't say your NPIP then, that's all. Next year, if you have something valuable you want to sell for top doller, NPIP test again.

Oh if it works like that then that sounds like a reasonable plan.

Yes, you forfiet your NPIP until you retest if you don't follow the rules. As long as you don't sell accross state lines or say that your up to date on your NPIP after you introduce untested stock, I don't see a problem. I mean, you could only get in trouble IF you SOLD accross STATE LINES and said your were NPIP and gave them your number ATER you introduce untested birds. You won't get in trouble for buying stuff though. I suppose you'd actually be doing them a favor if you tested every year (for free) including last years new stuff and thus improved the health of more birds.

That is a good point! If it's not too much of a hassle I might give it a go. I think I'm done with any more breeding for awhile but I might try Migratory Waterfowl this year

You should keep trying things until you find the one you love the most Kevin. It's OK that you tried this and it's not your cup of tea. Not everyone would have had the courage to try it in the first place.

That is a good point. I have learn what species I like and the ones I will never ever try again. It's all just trial and error.

absolutely! So what kind of ducks interest you? I really wish we had fewer birds sometimes. I like the geese, and they are pretty, but they poop a lot, and eat a lot, and its a lot of trouble to make breeding pens. We like what they are worth, but nobody wants to eat them, we like them too much. I'm thinking about selling some, but I like them all for some reason or other. Nobody is too interested in the white africans though.

I really love the look of Mallards. I like Call ducks but I'm not a fan of SQ ones. They look a bit deformed to me. I've been thinking about adding WH eventually as well.

That sounds like a plan!
