Maybe you should use some straw for bedding for your birds, then use it to make a garden.

That's a option but the soil is so sandy and rocky down here

Well, the more loam producing stuff you add to it, the better.

That is a good point. I do wish I could get a hold of some nice farmland though

The best gardens are made, not found. Try intensive garden in raised bed, custom made just for you. Two 4 x 4 foot beds would do you.

What's a intensive garden?

It's where you make a small really good garden, and grow things close togather. You don't grow in rows anymore. That takes too much space, and is inefficeint and become overgrown with weeds.
