Girls vs Girls

WAIT! Be a specialty dog/cat groomer. Lots of hair, some good looks and sharp styles (if you bring in your creativity), plus fewer people. They are hard to avoid, since they generally pay, and thats why we work.

Maybe learn to groom dogs for shows. Then you work on weekends, travel a bit, bring your own supplies with you, and you know dogs real well. Its perfect.

That'd be a great job! If only I was 2 years older I could go to groomer school

Those are some good ideas! I think Pet Daycare would be great but down here they are so regulated. I'm sure there are ways I could get around them. Do you think there woulds be a biohazard risk to my animals?

There is always a risk, but I think if you keep a small distance between then, so the dogs never come into contact with poultry or fences or building for them, no troubles. Find out what the regulations are. If you can meet them, your worth more. A good sound buisness is worth the time it takes to start it correctly. You could do it right (state and city are happy to counsel you on how to proceed, they want you to succeed in meeting their standards after all) and start saving some bucks. In a couple of years, you might have enought to buy your own place (live and work there) fence it good, and be totally home and paid for it. Maybe add on some grooming services and a little pet supply shop in one room down the line.

Great Ideas Marty. Thank you very much. Sounds like to start I would still need a bit of capitol to build from the ground up. Not to terribly much but still enough along side a good detailed business plan.

A bit of capital, yes. But, do you have any fence you can recycle? I mean, you need a 6 foot dog run area open to your building. You might need cool water coming in, but a garden hose with a shut off on the end ran from the house may qualify. A safe bulding w/o nails sticking out and loose boards. Something you can make tidy, and paint just white. Add a little paw and puppy art - even if you paint it with doller store paint. Old furniture is perfect for a doggie daycare. Then your true clients can sit in comfort. You just have to take them for walks twice a day, or more. Just check on it, it may not be so much that you can't make it walking other folks dogs, and doing doggie daycare (for buisiness people and vacationers) where you go to their home 3 x a day to feed and water doggies, and walk them. I used to do that for $20/day 15 years ago.
